Shooting photos of friends can be super rewarding. As a photographer, you get to capture their unique traits, quirks, and true personality, which makes for more genuine and meaningful portraits.
One time that really stood out was when I photographed my friend Bridget. She's honestly one of the nicest and most laid-back people I know. Her calm vibe and warm smile make her such a pleasure to be around, and I wanted to capture her essence in these portraits.
Bridget loves colourful clothes and always looks amazing in what she wears. Since she's also a big fan of theater, I went with the theme "a classy day out on the town".
To pull this off, we picked outfits that not only highlighted her natural beauty but also added to the classy vibe I had in mind for the shoot. Her bright smile and the carefully chosen outfits worked perfectly together, making the portraits really stand out.
Location hunting in London's West End
Our adventure led us through some really beautiful spots in the city, where we got to check out a bunch of different scenes. Each place had its own vibe, from strolling down a pier to hanging out around some cool, old-school architecture. The trick was finding places that were quiet and nailed that timeless, classy urban look.

Overall, photographing friends can be a deeply fulfilling experience, blending creativity with connection. If you're looking to dabble in the art of portrait photography, I recommend getting a friend involved and theming it on their personality. This approach will not only get the creative juices flowing, but will make for a fun shoot you already have chemistry with.
