Video giving a peek behind the scenes of setting up a Halloween toy photography display

Looking to create your own hidious haunting Halloween toy photography scene? With the shops packed full of All Hallow's Eve decorations, this is a great time to get creative.

The coolest thing is, you can totally do this at home. No need for a fancy studio—just a table works perfectly.

With a bunch of decorative skulls, you can create a scene that feels like it's straight out of a spooky dungeon or castle. You can usually find these items at pound shops or discount stores, so it won't cost you much. Just grab the props listed below.

Props

If you're considering snapping a similar scene, you might want to use these items:

  • Collection of mini decorative skulls

  • Sticky tac

  • Block of wood to base the skulls around

  • Dark coloured card for the backdrop

  • Model gravel

  • Fake blood sprayed on the skulls

  • Mini fog machine

Photography equipment needed

  • Camera

  • 35mm or 50mm lens

  • Tripod

  • Continous lighting

  • Reflector

  • Cable release (optional)

How to create the fog

With the right gear, you can totally set the mood by adding some eerie mist. Here are a few tips on how to do it:

  • Use a mini fog machine Perfect for indoor shoots, less so outdoors

  • Spray baby power This can be messy and is better suited for outdoors

  • Blow vape smoke

    Not ideal for large scenes

As you can see in the video above, I opted for the mini fog machine.

The finished result

The final result looks like this:

Skulls stacked on a foggy, dark background. Some skulls are painted red, creating an eerie, moody atmosphere. No visible text.
